ATV’s Illegally Off Road in Mill Creek
December 31, 2007
Someone with an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) has recently been off-roading in the snow leaving tire tracks through at least one park in Mill Creek. Since this does not occur during daylight hours, whoever is doing this apparently understands that this is not legal. Keep your eyes open and if you see illegal off-road activity in our parks or on the golf courses, please call the Kane County Sheriff immediately. In response to several incidents in Kane County Forest Preserves, effective at midnight tonight, Kane County has upgraded the fines for off road travel in forest preserves to a minimum of $500 with a mandatory court appearance. In court, the judge will have discretion to increase the fine as necessary to recover all costs associated with repairing the damage. If you’d like to read more about the incidents that triggered the upgraded fines, see this Daily Herald story.
