Fabyan and Williamsburg Elementary Schools Win Design Awards

November 29, 2009

The Northeast Illinois Chapter of the American Institute of Architects recently honored nine of nearly 50 entries for new or renovated buildings that exemplify excellence in architecture, two of which were the new Fabyan and Williamsburg Elementary Schools here in Geneva School District 304.  You can see what the architect judges had to say about Fabyan Elementary and Williamsburg Elementary by clicking the links.  The architects for both schools were FGM Architects of Oak Brook.

For Fabyan Elementary, I was unaware of the “planting of a tree museum used to reduce roadside views of the school” . Wow.  Great design AND  a tree museum!  Will they charge us a buck and half just to see ‘em?

They took all the trees
Put ‘em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see ‘em

Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.
