Frasz Updates on Train Whistle Noise Abatement Efforts
January 17, 2010
Drew Frasz just sent me a note updating me on the train whistle abatement efforts for the six rail crossings beginning at Brundige Road and proceeding west. As you may recall, this was one of his main campaign issues and it looks like he is making progress on this issue.
Mr. Frasz has met with a senior staffer for Bill Foster and got a “very positive response”. He has also met with State Senator Lauzen, who has agreed to earmark state funds to support the project, but given the financial condition of the State of Illinois it not certain these funds will be applied to this project. All in all, Mr. Frasz indicated that he believes he has funds lined up to cover over half of the estimated $540,000 needed to install wayside horns at all six crossings, with the Brundige Road and the LaFox Road crossings fully funded with additional contributions from Blackberry Township and the Brundige Green developer. If the state dollars become available, the project can be completed for all six crossings.
