Brighton lost 4-0 at Bountiful on Thursday, Sept. 24, dropping the Bengals to third place in 5A Region 6 with the regular season winding down.
The Granite School District program entered the match at 7-2 in region play after beating Bountiful 3-0 at home on Sept. 1. The rematch went the other way. Bountiful, the defending 5A state champion according to the Deseret News, is now riding a five-game winning streak.
Region 6 standings updated Saturday show Bountiful on top at 8-1 in region (11-3 overall). Olympus is second at 7-2 (10-3 overall). Brighton sits third at 7-3 (11-3 overall).
Bountiful senior midfielder Myka Page leads the region with 19 goals, 12 assists and 50 total points.
Skyline, the area's primary Region 6 team, is sixth at 2-7 in region play (5-8 overall). Brighton beat the Eagles 5-0 on Sept. 8. Bountiful topped Skyline 3-1 on Sept. 17.
Brighton hosts Alta on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 3:30 p.m., then welcomes Skyline on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
