Salt Lake County will open polling places on a Saturday for the first time, giving Millcreek voters a weekend option before the Nov. 3 general election.

The Saturday session on Oct. 31 is aimed at voters who can't get to the polls during the workweek, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. Specific polling locations for the Saturday session have not been announced. Voters can check for sites by address at votesearch.utah.gov or call the Salt Lake County Clerk's Elections Division at 385-468-7400.

Several other deadlines are approaching for Millcreek voters.

Oct. 13: Ballots go out

Election officials will begin mailing ballots to all active registered voters on Tuesday, Oct. 13. "Active" means a voter has registered recently or voted in at least one of the past two general elections. Voters can confirm their status at vote.utah.gov.

Oct. 20: Early voting opens

In-person early voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 20, two weeks before Election Day. Voters can find locations at votesearch.utah.gov.

Oct. 23: Registration deadline

Friday, Oct. 23 is the last day to register and avoid a provisional ballot. After that date, voters can still register, but election workers must verify eligibility before counting a provisional ballot.

Oct. 27: Last day to request a mail ballot

Tuesday, Oct. 27 is the cutoff for requesting a mail-in ballot. Military and overseas voters have until Monday, Nov. 2 to request theirs.

Election officials recommend that anyone still holding a ballot after Oct. 27 drop it at a drop box rather than mailing it, to make sure it arrives in time.

Oct. 31: First-ever Saturday early voting

The Saturday session runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Halloween. No specific site list for Millcreek has been published. Check votesearch.utah.gov for updates.

Nov. 3: Election Day

Polls are open for in-person voting on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Same-day registration is available, but those voters must cast provisional ballots. Mail-in ballots must be dropped at a drop box by 8 p.m.

Voters can track their ballot's status throughout the process at vote.utah.gov.

Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, the state's top election official, said in a Sept. 15 statement to the Deseret News that "Utahns can have confidence that the 2026 election will proceed as normal." Henderson made the statement after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an attempt to restrict mail-in voting ahead of the midterms. She encouraged voters to check their registration.

The Salt Lake County Clerk's Elections Division is at 2001 South State St., Suite S1-200, in Salt Lake City. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
