Skyline can finish Region 10 play undefeated when the Eagles host Murray at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the final regular-season region game for both teams.

The Eagles enter at 6-3 overall and 5-0 in 4A Region 10, according to MaxPreps. Deseret News writer Noland Parry's Power Guide lists Skyline as a 28.4-point favorite, rating the Eagles at 78.0 to Murray's 49.6.

A win would cap a perfect region run in head coach Brandon Matich's first season at Skyline. Matich, now in his 20th year as a head coach in Utah, spent 15 seasons at East High School, where he compiled a 138-60 record and won two state titles. He started his coaching career at Skyline in 1997 as a linebackers coach under Hall of Fame head coach Roger DuPaix, according to the Millcreek Journal.

Skyline has won five straight after opening the season 1-2 with losses to Stansbury and Lone Peak. All five wins came in region play, by a combined 272-54. In Week 9, Will Finau's 67-yard interception return broke a 23-23 tie with 4:02 left against Highland, and Jonah Mailei ran for two touchdowns, including a 56-yard score, in a 37-23 road win, according to KSL Sports.

Mailei had been out several weeks with an injury before returning for the Highland game. Skyline was favored to win Region 10 in the preseason coaches poll.

"We've got Murray on a short week, and yeah, they are dynamic," Matich said after the Oct. 8 Highland win, per the Deseret News.

Murray is no pushover. The Spartans are 7-2 overall and 4-1 in region play, according to MaxPreps. Their only region loss came at Highland, 34-29, on Sept. 25. Murray rolled Juan Diego Catholic 62-17 in Week 9, scoring 27 points in the first quarter and 28 in the second, per KSL Sports.

Still, the spread reflects a gap. Skyline has outscored opponents 313-171 on the season and shut out Cottonwood 56-0 in region play. Matich's squad lost more than 20 players to graduation from last year's 9-4 team that reached the 4A state quarterfinals, making the region dominance all the more notable.

The stakes extend beyond the region standings. The UHSAA will reveal the 4A playoff bracket during a show on KSLsports.com at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, with brackets and final rankings posted on UHSAA.org at 11 a.m. or after the show.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. Wednesday at Skyline.
