Millcreek households could get up to $3,000 in cleanup help under a new program the City Council will vote on Monday, Sept. 28.
The NeighborHelp Property Cleanup Assistance Program is one of several action items on a packed agenda for the council's 7 p.m. regular meeting at City Hall, 1330 E. Chambers Ave. A work session begins at 5 p.m.
NeighborHelp cleanup program
Two ordinances would create the program. Ordinance 26-68 would approve a nonmonetary service contribution of up to $3,000 per household, according to the meeting agenda. Ordinance 26-66 would add Section 9.56.120 to the city code to formally establish NeighborHelp. A public hearing on the program opens the regular meeting.
The agenda does not detail who qualifies, what services are covered, or how residents would apply.
1300 East rezone
The council will consider Ordinance 26-64, which would rezone roughly 1.6 acres at 3496 and 3500 S. 1300 E. The eastern 0.64 acres would shift from R-1-8 and R-2-8 zoning to R-2-6.5, a two-household zone. The remaining 0.96 acres on the west side would move to R-1-5, a single-household zone with smaller minimum lot sizes.
The agenda does not name the property owner or the intended use of the rezoned land.
Budget amendment and streetlights
Ordinance 26-67 would amend the city's fiscal year 2026-27 budget. A public hearing on the amendment is also scheduled. Specific dollar amounts in the amendment were not available in the posted agenda materials.
Resolution 26-24 would approve an interlocal agreement with Salt Lake County to install streetlights on Main Street between 3900 South and 4200 South. That corridor overlaps with a completed sidewalk and active-transportation project funded in part by county CATNIP dollars, according to the city's capital improvement projects page.
Other business
The council will also recognize the Unified Police Department Millcreek Precinct Officer of the Month for August 2026, consider appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission and vote on text amendments to Title 18 of the municipal code.
After the council meeting, the Community Reinvestment Agency board will convene separately. Its agenda includes a budget amendment allocating $92,000 for a sales tax sharing agreement with Porsche through the Olympus Hills CRA. The amendment also includes $5,500 for appraisal services at Old Millcreek Elementary through the MedTech CRA.
Mayor Cheri Jackson chairs both the council and the CRA board. Council members Silvia Catten, Thom DeSirant, Nicole Handy and Bev Uipi complete the five-member council.
Residents who cannot attend can watch via the city's livestream page or submit comments through the city's online public comment form. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 12.
