Organizers say more than 25 local restaurants will participate in a new six-week culinary campaign launching September 1, giving Millcreek-area diners a free, self-guided tour of participating venues before a ticketed grand finale festival at Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon.
The Sip & Savor Dine-Around, organized by Millcreek City Lifestyle and billed as the inaugural East Bench edition on its official website, runs through October 10. Participants pick up a digital or print passport and visit restaurants at their own pace, sampling limited-time menu specials, tailored pairings, and chef-curated dishes. No registration fee or passport purchase is required.
Diners can submit nominations for their favorite dishes and restaurants along the way. Those votes will determine awards presented at the Grand Finale festival.
Grand Finale at Log Haven
The Grand Finale takes place October 11, beginning at noon at Log Haven, the century-old fine-dining destination four miles up Millcreek Canyon at 6451 Mill Creek Canyon Road. General admission tickets include unlimited curated bites from all participating restaurants and bars, seasonal drinks, live music, and shuttle service to and from the canyon. The event is 21 and older.
Organizers say proceeds will benefit local nonprofits focused on food rescue and community resources. The specific nonprofit partners have not been named publicly.
What's known so far
Only two participating restaurants have been confirmed: Killa Nikkei, a Peruvian-Japanese restaurant at 279 E. 300 S. in Salt Lake City, and Log Haven itself. The full restaurant list had not been published as of July 22. Organizers say the lineup will be announced through Millcreek City Lifestyle's social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Log Haven was built in 1920 by Salt Lake steel baron L.F. Rains as an anniversary gift for his wife. Logs from Oregon were hauled four miles up the canyon by horse-drawn wagon. The restaurant has operated as a fine-dining and event venue for decades, and the October festival will take advantage of the canyon's fall foliage.
On its website, Millcreek City Lifestyle describes the campaign as an effort to stimulate economic growth and spotlight local food culture. The dine-around format lets residents support independent kitchens simply by eating out at participating spots throughout September and early October.
