Skyline's boys golf team is sharing first place in Region 6 after the season's opening tournament, posting a team stroke average of 294.0 to match Woods Cross at the top of the standings.

Three Eagles landed among the region's top individual performers at the Aug. 5 tournament at Mountain Dell Canyon Golf Course in Parleys Canyon, according to Deseret News region recaps. Marcus Davis-Condie led Skyline with a 70, good for second in the region behind only Woods Cross's Lincoln Henriksen (68). Perry Shaffer shot a 72, ranking fifth individually, and Bodie Green came in at 75 to tie for eighth.

Franklin Peterson rounded out the Eagles' scoring four with a 77.

The co-first-place start carries extra weight for a program looking to add to a run of seven 5A state titles in the last eight years. Davis-Condie and Green both return from last fall's championship squad, which edged Olympus by a single stroke at TalonsCove Golf Club in October 2025.

"It's a special group. … No one's going to remember who won the region. It's who played the best for two days," coach Kenny James told the Deseret News after that October 2025 title win.

That philosophy may be tested early. Last season Skyline finished second to Olympus in Region 6 during the regular season before flipping the script at state. This year the Eagles grabbed a share of the lead from the jump, with Brighton (303), Olympus (310), Viewmont (311), Alta (328) and Bountiful (346) trailing.

Shaffer, Green, and Davis-Condie are all returners from Skyline High's state championship winning team last year.

The next Region 6 tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Eaglewood Golf Course. The 5A state championship is set for Oct. 12-13 at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course in Bountiful.
