Log Haven, the fine-dining restaurant four miles up Millcreek Canyon, will host the Sip & Savor Culinary Festival on Sunday, October 11, and offer special weekend brunches throughout September and October as part of the inaugural dine-around campaign celebrating Millcreek's food scene.
The festival will feature tasting menus, craft beverages, live entertainment, and local chefs, mixologists, and artisans on Log Haven's grounds inside the Wasatch National Forest, according to a Millcreek City Lifestyle feature published July 23. Passports and festival tickets are limited and available at sipandsavormillcreek.com. Pricing has not been announced.
New owners, same legacy
Log Haven enters the campaign under new leadership. Restaurateur Brandon Hargett and business partners Flynn Paulson and Teri Paulson took over the property in early 2026 from Margo Provost, who had owned and operated the restaurant since 1994.
"This is not just the purchase of a restaurant — it is the responsibility of a legacy," Hargett said in a February 2026 news release announcing the transition.
Chef Dave Jones, a 2024 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef, was retained by the new ownership group along with former General Manager Ian Campbell, according to Salt Lake Magazine's February report. Event Manager Faith Scheffler continues as a minority partner.
Built in 1920, still earning accolades
The building dates to 1920, when steel baron L.F. Rains had heavy Oregon timber shipped through San Francisco and hauled up the canyon by horse-drawn wagons to create a summer retreat for his wife. Log Haven's hand-hewn logs and stone fireplaces remain from that era.
The restaurant earned a spot on OpenTable's 2025 list of the 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in the U.S., one of only two Utah restaurants recognized. In 2024, it received a National Trust for Historic Preservation grant through the American Express Backing Small Restaurants program to install energy-efficient windows.
Brunch, tickets, and what to know
During the September-October campaign, Log Haven will add a Sip & Savor brunch to its existing weekend schedule, which runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Specific menu details have not been released. The culminating festival takes place Sunday, October 11. Residents can reserve passports and tickets at sipandsavormillcreek.com.
