A small rockslide closed ramps at the I-215/I-80 interchange near Parleys Canyon on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Rocks and debris hit the I-215 East northbound ramp to I-80 eastbound around 8 p.m., according to a post on X by SLCScanner. At least one vehicle struck a rock. The vehicle was damaged, but the driver was not injured.

Millcreek-area commuters who use I-215 to connect to I-80 were affected by the closures.

The Utah Highway Patrol and the Unified Fire Authority responded to the scene along with Incident Management crews to clear debris, SLCScanner reported.

Exit ramps from I-215 northbound and southbound both closed as a result of the rockslide, ABC4 reported. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) initially estimated clearance by 9:12 p.m., but access remained closed past that time, according to ABC4.

Large rocks and debris covered part of the freeway near Parleys Canyon, KUTV reported. An emergency vehicle was stopped near the debris on the roadway.

None of the reports included a named UDOT spokesperson or a timeline for full clearance. UDOT urged drivers to use alternate routes.

Drivers can check road conditions through UDOT's 511 traffic information line.
