Skyline's girls volleyball team lost its first 5A Region 6 match of the season, falling 3-1 at Syracuse on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The Eagles took the opening set 26-24 but dropped the next three, 22-25, 15-25 and 25-27. The Deseret News has a full game account.

Senior Bailey Bennett, a 2025 5A second-team All-State selection, and freshman Kova Symkoviak lead the Skyline attack this season. Symkoviak tops the Eagles in hitting percentage at .367, according to MaxPreps. Individual game stats from the Syracuse match were not available.

The loss drops Skyline to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in region play, second in Region 6 behind unbeaten Woods Cross (6-0, 20-3). Head coach Mondo Begay is in his 10th year leading the program, which fell to Woods Cross 3-2 in the 5A championship match last season.

Skyline travels to Viewmont on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m., then visits Olympus on Tuesday, Oct. 6, before hosting Brighton on Thursday, Oct. 8.
