Skyline's girls volleyball team earned the No. 3 seed in the UHSAA 5A state tournament. The Eagles will face No. 14 Viewmont at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Skyline enters the bracket at 17-8 overall and 10-2 in Region 6 play, according to MaxPreps. The Eagles finished second in the region behind top-seeded Woods Cross.

The Eagles have already beaten Viewmont twice this season, sweeping the Vikings 3-0 on Sept. 8 and again 3-0 on Oct. 1. Skyline carries a two-match winning streak into the postseason, capping the regular season with a 3-0 home win over Alta on Oct. 21.

Head coach Mondo Begay is in his 10th year leading the program, according to Deseret News preseason capsules. The Eagles returned several key contributors this fall, including seniors Norah Pearce, Bailey Bennett and Brooke Bennett, junior Evelyn Vargas and sophomore setter Eva Lotoulelli.

"Excited for the season, have a good group of girls coming back and ready to compete," Begay said in the preseason capsules.

Last season, Skyline went 21-7 and reached the 5A championship match before falling to Woods Cross 3-2. Bailey Bennett earned second-team all-state honors after that run, and Brooke Bennett made third team, according to the Skyline athletics website.

Viewmont, based in Bountiful, is 15-11 overall and 4-8 in Region 6, finishing sixth in the standings, according to MaxPreps. The Vikings went 5-16 in 2025 under first-year head coach Kerri Haddock and did not qualify for the state tournament. This year, Viewmont enters the bracket on a three-match winning streak.

The full 5A first-round slate at UVU, as reported by the Deseret News, features eight matchups. No. 1 Woods Cross faces No. 16 Box Elder at 3:30 p.m., and No. 2 Pleasant Grove meets No. 15 Olympus at 5 p.m.

A Skyline win would send the Eagles into the quarterfinals later in the week.
