Two Millcreek-area senior centers will give older residents a chance to meet candidates running for local, state and federal offices before the Nov. 3 general election.

Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services is bringing its Candidate Days series to the Mt. Olympus Senior Center on Friday, Oct. 23, and the Millcreek Senior Center on Thursday, Oct. 29. Both events start at 12:30 p.m. and are open to adults 60 and older.

Both events are free.

Candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives, state Senate, Salt Lake County Council, district attorney, sheriff and other offices are scheduled to appear, ABC4 reported. Each candidate will give a short presentation, followed by about 30 minutes to meet with attendees and answer questions.

The two Millcreek events are part of a 13-stop countywide tour that began Oct. 7 at the Draper Senior Center and wraps up at the Millcreek Senior Center.

"Candidate Days give our participants a chance to connect with local candidates, hear about the issues that matter to them and ask questions directly," Paul Leggett, division director of Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services, said when the series launched.

The Mt. Olympus Senior Center is at 1635 E. Murray-Holladay Road. The Millcreek Senior Center is at 2266 East Evergreen Ave.

Salt Lake County senior centers are free to join for adults 60 and older. The centers offer exercise facilities, educational classes, dining and social activities year-round, according to Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services.

Residents who want the full Candidate Days schedule can find it on the Salt Lake County events calendar. The division can be reached at 385-468-3200, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
