Two men face aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping charges after the Unified Police Department says they lured a victim to a Millcreek home, threatened them with weapons, and robbed them.

Wyatt Hansen, 18, and James Waterman, 19, were arrested July 21, and booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, UPD confirmed. Detectives from three units made the arrests: the Directed Enforcement Unit, the Violent Crimes Unit, and Midvale Property Crimes.

What happened

The incident began July 19, when Hansen and Waterman lured the victim to a residence under false pretenses, according to UPD. Once inside, the two allegedly confronted the victim, prevented them from leaving, and robbed them.

The victim escaped and reported the crime to law enforcement.

Investigation ongoing

UPD's statement said "multiple suspects" confronted the victim inside the residence. The department said on July 21 that detectives "continue to work diligently to identify everyone involved and hold those responsible accountable."

No court date or arraignment has been publicly announced for either suspect. Both charges are allegations; Hansen and Waterman are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

UPD did not disclose the specific address of the residence or the type of weapons allegedly used.
