Millcreek's signature outdoor program Venture Out! turned 20 this summer, capping a season that drew residents to Canyon Rim Park, Millcreek Common and Millcreek Canyon for concerts, camps, movies and markets from June through mid-August.

The city marked the milestone on its official X account Friday, Aug. 14, posting a video recap and thanking residents for the season. The city said the summer offered plenty of reasons to get outside and spend time together.

Venture Out!, supported by the city and community councils, has spent two decades encouraging neighbors to explore recreation opportunities in their own backyard and across the state. The 2026 lineup included festivals starting June 5 at Canyon Rim Park, outdoor movie nights beginning July 10, Night Out Against Crime on Aug. 4 and block parties scattered through the season.

14 free Monday concerts

The Summer Jam concert series, organized by the Millcreek Arts Council, ran every Monday evening from June 1 through Aug. 31 at the Canyon Rim Park Amphitheater. Fourteen bands played free shows spanning soul, bluegrass, Celtic, funk and Americana, with food trucks like Sooo Good Lemonade, La Casa de La Empanada SLC and Millcreek Pizza House lining the park.

The Will Baxter Band opened the series June 1; Jim Bone & the Dig closes it out Aug. 31.

Camps, climbing and Sunday markets

Millcreek Common hosted summer camps themed around climbing, skating and connecting, with half-day and full-day sessions running through early August. The venue's outdoor rock climbing wall is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Bazaar Sunday Market, a flea market celebrating local creativity and craftsmanship, continues through September with vendors set up Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Millcreek Common.
